PLAY: Start at Wine Styles for a wine tasting ($15) with free appetizers and live jazz. Make sure to purchase a bottle of wine- you can take it next door for dinner at either Burger Lounge (budget friendly) or Chance Bistro (more romantic feel but more expensive)- both places will waive corkage. On that same block you'll find a Yogurt Escape for dessert.
BLOG: There is a little strip of love on Orange Avenue that makes for budget-friendly dating in Coronado. Throw away the cheap wine and forgo the burger meat at the grocery store! It’s time to get out of the house and enjoy award winning wine and an organic grass-fed beef burger (or turkey or veggie burger) on a budget! And the jazz is free too. Wine Styles really has it together. They just keep expanding and offering more reasons to go here. Thursday through Saturday they have a wine tasting ($15 a person) where they showcase different regions and they provide complimentary cheese and crackers and free live jazz. You can sit out on their front patio and enjoy the cool Coronado air. As soon as Happy Hour is over it's time to purchase a bottle and head to dinner! There are Burger Lounges popping up all over San Diego and for good reason: They have amazing grass-fed beef, organic ingredients, microbrews, and premium wine... all without having to tip a server! They won SD Magazine's 2009 Best Local Hamburger Joint. However, it has more of an urban "lounge" vibe than a neighborhood "joint" feel. At this particular Burger Lounge they will waive your corkage fee if you bring your wine over from Wine Styles. I've seen Chance Bistro, but haven't dined there. It looks cozy and is immediately to the right of Wine Styles. They also waive corkage fee for wines brought over from their neighbor. Please let us know your thoughts on this quaint bistro. I've also never been to Yogurt Escape, but it seemed to be a nice fit with this wallet concious date. Plus, it's right next door to all three of the aforementioned establishments. Again, let us know your thoughts.
