| Cash Friendly Urban Beer Tasting and Bowling |

PLAY: Let me introduce this date with the Thoughtful Detail which I usually reserve for the blog. Before starting this adventure, surprise your date with a little gift… a new, funny pair of socks folded in a little gift bag and tied with a bow. Park downtown and start your night with a pre-game beer sampler and sweet potato fries at Neighborhood on 8th and G street. Once you're loosened up, walk 2 ½ blocks to East Village Tavern & Bowl on Market near 10th. After you’ve let your date win, walk 3 blocks to J street and 10th to finish up the night at the trendy Basic Urban Kitchen & Bar for pizza that has been voted the best in San Diego!
BLOG: “You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.” Plato. This date is for those of you who always thought that a) you have to spend a lot of money downtown and b) you have to go to a bass-bumping nightclub to have a fun in the Gaslamp. Healthy competition drives this date design… Neighborhood is a beer and burger joint that has a North Park personality. There are only two things that make this establishment “Downtown”: Their location, and the fact that they don’t serve ketchup. It’s called Neighborhood for a reason… This place is definitely dinner date worthy, but if you are trying to save money I would experience Neighborhood through a beer tasting and a plate of their unbelievable sweet potato fries. East Village Tavern & Bowl touts itself as “San Diego’s alternative to expensive cover charges and strict dress.” This urban bowling alley is a great place to be yourself- funny shoes and all. If you want to secure a future date, make sure to use this opportunity to make a bet that involves the loser having to do something predetermined at a later date. Voted San Diego’s best pizza by San Diego locals, Basic Urban Kitchen & Bar is an inexpensive way to get a bite to eat downtown. On one side of this garage turned trendy neighborhood bar is the pizza parlor and on the other side is their lounge. The casual crowd at Basic is great!
