PLAY: Do a wine tasting at Mosaic. Then go south on 30th (it turns into Upas Street and does an "S" back to 30th) for about a block and a half. Have dinner at Alexanders. After dinner go back north on 30th for a couple of blocks and top your night off at Heaven Sent Desserts on University.
BLOG: 30th Street in North Park is the hottest drive for urban wining and dining. This play date is so darling that you might just charm her pants off! Ok, I apologize for that one... but I had to say it. Mosaic Wine Bar was just voted "Best New Wine Bar" by San Diego Magazine. I have many friends who have been to this wine bar, and they rave about its ambiance. Mosaic has daily Happy Hours, so take advantage of their 4pm - 6pm $5 glass of wine and $2-off beer before you go to dinner! I can definitely say that Alexanders is one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. It is the trifecta- a dream-like ambiance, delicious food, and an "on-the-down-low" appeal. If you've ever been to Old Venice, Alexanders is its sister restaurant... and it is just soooo romantic- so much so that the slow flicker of the candles makes time stop in its tracks. It is interesting to sit at the bar because one person can sit on the opposite side... practically in the kitchen! After sipping wine and savoring your meal... you only need one more stop to send you right to your "Happy Place." Heaven Sent Desserts is right in the heart of North Park and has desserts comparable to Extraordinary Desserts. They are little peices of art! This is a great place for light-hearted conversation and heavy indulgence.
