| A Secret SD Gem, Rancho Bernardo Winery |

PLAY: Everything is in one location. Make a brunch reservation for Cafe Merlot. (Their outdoor area books up on the weekends.) Try a house mimosa... They are amazing! And if you don't, the boisterous waitress will gladly force one on you. Walk around the Village Shops and then head to the Tasting Room. Grab a bottle of wine to-go and make your way to the patio for a glass of wine and live music. Just about every weekend they host a special event, so check their calendar for details. Make sure to stop and grab a cup of coffee at the Sweet Pea Coffee Shop on your way out!
BLOG: Want to prove that you really know the hidden treasures of San Diego? Try surprising your guest(s) with a trip to a fully functional, 119 year old winery in the middle of a Rancho Bernardo retirement community! I try not to recommend “cheesy” spots, but this village is the yummiest of cheese… This is a great idea for older or younger ‘play’ers who don't mind a drive, hate hassling with parking, and who enjoy daytime drinking without judgment. Please be aware: the people who work at this winery are extremely happy. To the point where I question HOW these people could possibly be so happy. Then again, they work with wine all day in a secret village…
