| A Proper Date on Prospect |

PLAY: Start your evening outside at Burgundy and order a wine flight with an hor's devours. Next, if you are in the mood for a moonlit walk (or a sunlit walk if it's still light out like the picture to your left), you could walk north to Girard, follow it towards the water until you hit Prospect, and then follow the cove till you get to George's on the Cove. The walk will provide a nice people watching and/or shopping experience before dinner. Once at George's, check on your reservation for the terrace (the best views). If you have to wait- Great! Take a seat at the outside bar and enjoy a glass of wine. After dinner, walk south on Prospect to La Valencia where they should have music in their lounge. It's an old school crowd, so if you are looking for something more trendy try Whisknladle only three blocks away on Wall Street. They recently revamped their bar area and their mixologist is said to be an artist! If it's just dessert and lounge music you are longing, walk a couple blocks down Prospect and take a left on Girard to get to the new Cups cupcake lounge...
BLOG: This date is very special to me because it showcases two places that have been milestones in my memories. George's on the Cove was the very first place I dined in San Diego (and the reason I decided to move here from Georgia), and the lovely La Valencia is where I married my husband. Add a little fun before and after... and you've got a night to remember! White lights and wine flights- that describes the beautiful wine bar that is Burgundy. This is a great place to sip wine outside under the moonlight surrounded by those you love. I haven't been there in awhile, but the last time I went I met with some old law school friends of mine. At first we were all so anxious to see each other that we couldn't stop talking a mile a minute in an effort to catch up, but... ALAS! The white lights and the wine flights got the best of us and gently carried us into a thrilling three hour conversation about life, love, and the law. Burgundy will do that to you. A view of the ocean is always a smart idea for a romantic date. That way if there is a lull in the conversation you can always yell, "Look! A Dolphin!" And at George's on the Cove you have 180 degrees worth of ocean view to lie about seeing porpoises play. ("Guess you missed it.") George's keeps getting better and better with chic decor and more bars! Their modern Califonia cuisine is always fresh and the ambiance is always refreshing. This is my top spot in La Jolla! The new Cups offers sweet beats and eats... it's a cupcake lounge with music! I haven't checked it out yet, but I heard it's darling. Let us know what you think... La Valencia is an elegant boutique hotel that has been around since 1926. It embodies the old world charm of La Jolla society. La Valencia's architecture is pure artwork whith bold colors broken up into spanish mosaics. There are spectacular views from both inside the lounge and outside on the terrace. Just sitting in the lounge on one of the comfy couches next to the picture frame window is recreation in itself. On the weekends they have a piano player who takes requests, and, once the dirty martinis have been poured, a few guests will gather around and begin to dance! Thoughtful Detail: Take your date and your drinks down to the garden just above the pool... it's a great spot for some alone time. Complicated cocktails are all the new rage! And I love it... because as long as it tastes good- I can appreciate it. But gone are the days of vodka tonics... Child's play! Whisknladle's mixologist is more engineer than bartender. Plus, they've redone their bar area to provide more of a cozy atmosphere for late night guests that want to keep the party going to last call. I've heard Whisknladle is also a great dinner spot! Can't wait to try it!
