| The "Grand"est Date Yet! |
PLAY: I would start this date in three different ways:
1. Happy Hour at The Clubhouse Grill overlooking the Golf Course. From 4pm - 7pm for great drink specials. 2. Afternoon Tea in the Library from 2pm - 4pm Friday through Sunday. 3. A Treatment at the The Grand Del Mar Spa. Next, I would head to the Lobby Lounge for live music Thursday through Saturday from 7pm - 11pm. Grab your drink and sit inside by the warm fireplace or head outside to sit on the balcony overlooking a beautiful lawn. (You could probably take your drink and go for a romantic walk around the grounds.) Lastly, have dinner at Amaya on their outdoor patio. Take the dinner super slow and enjoy the scrumptious food and the surreal surroundings. (If you go during wedding season, you are likely to have some good people watching as you eat!) BLOG: Want to play "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous?" Then spend an afternoon at The Grand Del Mar, a luxurious oasis just inland from Del Mar. But don't worry, I drive a volvo... So, I had to plan my play here appropriately. Happy Hour at The Clubhouse Grill is the best way to experience The Grand Del Mar on a budget. The Happy Hour is daily from 4pm - 7pm, and they offer $3 drafts, $4 wines by the glass, and... hold on for this one... $20 wines by the bottle- hand picked from some guy name Jesse. (Hey, if he works at The Grand Del Mar I assume he picks great wine!) They also feature classic bar bites and Baja favorites. Do you take one lump of sugar or two? Spending an afternoon in a library is not my cup of tea, but if it involves conversing with the elite group that hangs out at this high class hotel- bring on the crumpets! Afternoon Tea in the Library sounds like a lovey way to spend the day. A spa treatment is always a good bet for a date idea. I haven't experienced a massage at The Grand Del Mar Spa, but one of our best friends asked his beautiful brazilian girlfriend to marry him over a spa session. She said, "Yes!"... See what happens when you invest in beauty?! We haven't had the opportunity to visit the Grill, the Library, or the Spa- but we have dined at Amaya! Amaya is the restaurant inside the hotel. They have a giant outdoor patio with a view of a perfectly manicured lawn surrounded by a host of sunsoaked hilltops. Welcome to the good life! The food is wonderful and the service is outstanding. The Grand Del Mar's five star restaurant is Addison which is elsewhere on the property. (When we drove by the entrance I think we saw a valet wearing a uniform made of gold.) BUT, no need to spend such riches... Amaya is everything you could ask for in special occasion restaurant!
