PLAY: Start with a wine tasting at Enoteca Style. Next, go only ½ a block and enjoy fine dining and a pre-selected show at Anthology (get tickets in advance). After the show your date will think that life can’t get any better, so really blow his or her mind with a decadent dessert at Extraordinary Desserts OR a gelato latte at Pappalecco.
BLOG: A date should be an experience shared by two people. This date design packages the gifts of wine, food, and culture together and tops it off with a sugary bow! Whether you are going on a first date or an anniversary date- this Little Italy play is sure to impress. Thoughtful detail: Ask the manager at Anthology for reservations at the “Owner’s Table” or any other V.I.P. area and prearrange for them to bring Champagne to the table when you arrive. What do you get when you mix urban chic with Little Italy cozy?? Enoteca Style!! Enoteca is just as precious as the people who work there. Its decor is as fine as their wine… and when they have the fireplace going on the plasma T.V. you can literally feel the warmth of this place consume you. Try the wine flights for a more interesting tasting experience. Anthology is one of a kind for San Diego. When previously recommending this place I would have prefaced “show” with “jazz.” However, this super cool venue has expanded it’s range to include all types of music and even comedy shows. Anthology in itself could be a one-stop-play-shop with it's downstairs bar, dining area, and upstairs terrace lounge. Don’t forget to read the John Lennon “Imagine” lyrics as you walk out the door… it will remind you of what is really important in life. Tip: for a less expensive trip to Anthology, check out our information on Anthology as an After Work Affair on Tuesdays--which boasts less expensive food and drinks and their amazing house band for little or no cover. Thank goodness Extraordinary Desserts is open until midnight... because there is nothing like a late night affair with some sweet treats to end the evening. Plus, its bright lights and sugar highs wake you up and give you that extra needed energy for the even later-night makeout sessions. Not only do they have decadent desserts- they also have a great selection of wine, gourmet tea, coffee, and light bites. Not only do I trust Francesco and his co-owner brother, Lore, with my espresso fix, my husband and I also trusted the duo to plan our entire Italy trip. When you go to Pappalecco you find that you are suddenly on European time (and surrounded by European hipsters) - and somehow everyone speaks the language (except for me- I just throw out “Ciao!” and “Buon Journo!” to blend in.) The gelato is authentic and refreshing and the caffe is heartwarming. A great place for good conversation and people watching! We thank Francesco for bringing his gem to Little Italy.
