| Kayak in the Cove... PLUS a Picnic in the Park or Piatti's Brunch |

DATE: Your day starts early for an hour and a half kayak tour with La Jolla Kayak. After your tour you have two fantastic choices to replenish all of those calories you just burned off:
1. Head next door to the Cheese Shop. Grab your picnic supplies, purchase food from the Cheese Shop, and walk northeast (only a couple of block) to the grassy Kellogg Park overlooking the beach. Enjoy a picnic in the sun. 2. Prearrange to indulge in the kayak tour + brunch at Piatti's across the street. This adds a bit of romance due to Piatti's charming appeal... and particularly beautiful patio. BLOG: Need to get out on the water but don't have any friends with boats? Then rent a kayak in the La Jolla Cove and get to sea! This weekend fun takes into consideration that water-play can leave you with a whale-like appetite... One of our "Play-ers" has kayaked the cove on many occassions and recommends La Jolla Kayak, which he says has nice equipment, friendly staff and large lockers. It is in the heart of La Jolla Shores, a great destination neighborhood for those looking for an afternoon getaway! The Cheese Shop is right down the block from La Jolla Kayak and is famous for it's delicious order out sandwiches! So much selection and almost everyone stops by after a big kayaking excursion. The Cheese Shop is a great place to refuel after a couple of hours in the sun and on the water. Once you've packed your picnic head to... Kellogg Park is a great alternative to picnicing in the sand. It's a gorgeous green grass park right on the ocean. Nobody REALLY wants sand in their sand-wich. We haven't done the brunch tour with Piatti's, but Piatti's is one of our favoirte restaurants in La Jolla Shores. It's a darling restaurant with great ambiance and food... and a particularly cozy tree covered patio. Apparently, this tour + brunch combo has been increasing in popularity!
